The highlight of the tour is the legendary Inca Trail, a 5-day trek that leads you through awe-inspiring mountain scenery, cloud forests, and ancient Inca ruins, ultimately culminating in the magnificent Machu Picchu. As you hike along this historic trail, you’ll experience the thrill of following in the footsteps of the Incas, encountering spectacular vistas and marveling at the engineering marvels of the ancient civilization.

Itinerary

Welcome to Lima! Upon arrival, we will provide assistance for your check-in at the Lima airport hotel. If you arrive early, you have the option to transfer into the city and explore modern and colonial Lima through optional tours or visits to museums and private collections. Alternatively, you can continue your journey to Cusco on the same day. Overnight in Lima.
Today, you will walk to the terminal and board your flight to Cusco, the heart of the Inca world. Upon arrival, we will transfer you to your hotel. Take the rest of the day to acclimatize to the altitude (3,400 meters/11,400 ft.). Overnight in Cusco.
Enjoy a free morning in Cusco In the afternoon, join a group tour of the city and nearby ruins such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, and Puca Pucara. Learn about the fascinating history of the Inca Empire. In the evening, you will have a briefing with your trek guide in preparation for the upcoming adventure. Overnight in Cusco.
Embark on a full-day Sacred Valley tour Departing from Cusco, you will visit the Pisac market and ruins in the morning. In the afternoon, explore the Ollantaytambo ruins and take some time to wander through the village. The tour includes lunch at an Andean buffet. Overnight in Ollantaytambo, located in the Sacred Valley.
The Inca Trail adventure begins! With your guide, you will take a private car to Km 82, the starting point of the trek. From there, hike along the Urubamba River, stopping at Q'oriwayrakina for lunch. Continue to Km 88, cross the small bridge at Q'ente, and hike to the Llaqtapata campsite. If time permits, you may visit Qente and Machu Qente archaeological remains and the Llaqtapata ruins. Camp overnight. (Hiking time: 5-6 hours; Distance: 11 kms).
Continue the Inca Trail, ascending the Cusicacha Valley and passing through the Andean community of Huayllabamba. Reach a large meadow below the first pass, offering breathtaking views of Mt. Huayanay. Camp overnight. (Hiking time: 6 hours; Distance: 9 kms).
Hike to Phuyupatamarca, starting with a steep ascent from Llulluchapampa campsite to reach Warmiwanusca Pass at 4,200m/13,280ft. Descend to the Pacaymayo River, climb past Runkuraqay ruins, and cross a causeway to Sayacmarca. The trail continues along a ridge to Phuyupatamarca, known as "the village on the edge of the clouds." Camp overnight. (Hiking time: 7-8 hours; Distance: 14 kms).
Continue hiking the Inca Trail, passing Phuyupatamarca ruins and descending into the cloud forest to the Winay Wayna ruins. After a two-hour walk through the cloud forest, arrive at Machu Picchu via Intipunku, the "door of the sun." Descend to the ruins, catch a shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes, and walk to your hotel. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.
Experience the wonder of Machu Picchu with a guided tour, exploring its remarkable Inca remains. You have the option to climb Huayna Picchu, offering a panoramic view of the site (ticket not included). Enjoy lunch before taking the afternoon Expedition train back to Cusco. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Cusco.
Today, depending on your departure time, you may have the morning free to relax or explore Cusco further. We will provide a transfer to the airport in time for your flight to Lima or your onward destination.
