Itinerary

Arrive in Oslo | Take a flight to Svolvær | The journey begins
  • Arrive at the Oslo Airport and get ready with the necessary documentation for the immigration process.
  • It will take around 45 minutes to 1 hour depending upon the people in the queue.
  • After the immigration process, take public transport (bus) or preferably train to reach the Oslo City Center if you reach early
  • You can stroll around the streets of Oslo, spending the time at sights like the Royal Palace, Oslo City Hall, Oslo Opera House, and the Aker Brygge area on your own
  • Head back to the airport for a domestic flight to Svolvær, known as the capital of the Lofoten Islands
  • Arrive at the airport and pick up your rental car in Svolvær
  • Here, one can fine a variety cultural attractions nestled under the town’s landmark mountain, Svolværgeita
  • Head back to your pre-booked hotel in Svolvær for the overnight stay

Svolvær | Day at Leisure

Drive to Reine | Driving distance: 121 km/ 75 miles

  • Hop back in your car and drive towards the scenic village of the fishing village of Reine
  • Take the national tourist road in the Lofoten Islands, on your way to Reine
  • The scenic road to Reine will surely take your breath away with mesmerising vistas all around passing through the red and white fisherman cabins
  • One can take a halt at any of the cafes on your way to have some coffee or lunch while enjoying the view of the mountains
  • To know the Viking history, one can make a stop at Lofotr Viking Museum to explore its full-scale reconstruction of a Viking-era house along with the various Viking artefacts
  • One could also drive up to Gimsøya on the north side of the archipelago, a place where the Fjord and the Atlantic Ocean meet each other with a perfect backdrop of a steep mountain.

  • Today, one can hike up to the Reinebringen, one of the highest peaks on the Lofoten islands and one of the most popular ones as well
  • Take the stairway beginning on the western side of Ramsvik tunnel after following the old road around the outside of the tunnel
  • Just before reaching the summit, the trail is a bit steep and muddy so nice shoes would be a good option here
  • The view at the top of the summit is so beautiful that it will surely take your breath away.
